New storm hits Sandy-struck area with snow, power cuts

A new storm has dumped snow over New York and New Jersey leaving new power outages as New York Governor dismisses his chief of emergency management.
Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, a second storm hit the US East Coast with snow on Wednesday creating wind gusts at 62 miles per hour (100 km/hr) and high waters. In New Jersey over a foot (about 30 cm) of snow covered the grounds.
Commenting on the new power cuts, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said, "I can see us actually moving backwards."
Before the storm struck, tens of thousands were still homeless and hundreds of thousands were without power in the Sandy-struck area.
On Thursday, in New Jersey, power companies reported 400,000 power outages, 20,000 of which were new. In the New York area, 115,000 customers reported power cuts adding to the 315,000 who still had not had their power restored since Sandy.
